2 Hewitt-Trussville Grads At UA Land On Academic All-SEC List

(Wesley Hitt/Getty Images) TUSCALOOSA, AL The University of Alabama announced that 47 members of its national championship football team were named to the Academic All-Southeastern Conference List. Two of those players have Hewitt-Trussville High School ties. Former HTHS quarterback Paul Tyson, and former offensive lineman Pierce Quick each earned academic All-SEC honors. The University of Alabama placed 98 student-athletes on the 2020 Fall Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll total. Subscribe To earn a place on the honor roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.0 or better grade point average for either the preceding academic year or their career and be a sophomore or better in academic standing. The Fall SEC Academic Honor Roll is based on the 2020 spring, summer and fall terms.

TRUSSVILLE Several Hewitt-Trussville High School band members were selected to the Alabama Orchestra Association 2021 Allstate Orchestra. HTHS Band Director Mike Guzman announced the following students were selected: Wei Wei Guo, 2nd chair Flute, Festival Orchestra. Koen Pritchard, Percussion, Festival Orchestra. Emma Coley, 1st chair Flute, Sinfonia Orchestra. Jones Preg, 3rd chair Clarinet, Sinfonia Orchestra. Victoria Landar, alternate Clarinet, Sinfonia Orchestra.

From The Tribune staff reports TRUSSVILLE Trussville City Schools announced the names of students selected to the Alabama Bandmasters Association Alabama Allstate Jazz Band. There were five students selected from Hewitt-Trussville High School, a record number, according to the school system. The students are: Ian Franzer, 3rd chair Gold Band. Parker Smith, 5th chair, Silver Band. Tori Shepherd, 3rd chair, Silver Band. Noah Bender, 3rd chair, Bronze Band. Jacob Carroll, Alternate, Bronze Band.

But, the illness, named COVID-19 by the World Health Organization (WHO), actually began in 2019. Health experts first identified the virus in Wuhan, China. Although many people reported little to no symptoms, some have reported severe illness. Around 1.72 deaths have been attributed to coronavirus. A person can remain infectious for up to two weeks after catching COVID-19.
