A classic MG A Roadster was found under a pile of rubbish during a house clearance in Dorset A CLASSIC MG sports car which spent years buried under a huge pile of rubbish in a domestic garage will go under the hammer in April. The Iris Blue 1960 MG A Roadster is expected to fetch between £8,000 and £12,000 after being discovered by Charterhouse in Sherborne. Auctioneers discovered it in a property near Shaftesbury and it will go up for auction along with an album of photographs illustrating its restoration. “It was always my dream as a schoolboy to go around the countryside looking for classic and vintage cars which have been locked away for years” said Richard Bromell of Charterhouse.

The iconic Haynes Workshop Manuals will no longer be physically printed and published for new cars, its publisher has confirmed following the death of its founder.  More than 200 million manuals on 300 models of cars and 130 motorbike models were sold to DIY enthusiasts who wanted to maintain and repair vehicles themselves for more than 50 years. Haynes Publishing was founded by John Haynes in 1960, but was sold for a reported £114million earlier this year to French firm Infopro Digital after his death from a short illness. THE first Ferrari ever to be sold in Britain is now in Somerset. The historic Ferrari 250 GT Pinin Farina Coupe was imported by Formula 1 world champion Mike Hawthorn in 1958, and has now been sold to Chris Haynes of the Haynes International Motor Museum at Sparkford. Haynes plans to use the car, rather than it being a static exhibit. Mike Wheeler of Rardley Motors, who sold the car, said: This is the first ever Ferrari road car sold in the UK and as such is an important part of British and Italian automotive history. Its association with Mike Hawthorn also adds lustre to its huge interest, as he imported it in the same year that he won the Formula 1 world title.
