The 23-year-old man charged in Wednesday’s attack on his neighbors allegedly ran down a mother and pregnant daughter ages 54 and 26 with his car, got out to stab the older woman in the neck and tried to stab out her eyes.
Jake T. Kavanaugh, of 15 Fairview Farm Road, Haverhill, was ordered held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing at his arraignment Thursday in Haverhill District Court. First Justice Cesar A. Archilla also ordered a mental health evaluation at Bridgewater State Hospital and called for Kavanaugh to return to court Tuesday, March 23. Kavanaugh pleaded not guilty to armed assault to murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, mayhem and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.

A 23-year-old man accused of attacking a mother and daughter as they walked their dogs in Haverhill was held without bail in Haverhill District Court Thursday morning, according to the Essex District Attorney’s office.
Jake Kavanaugh of Haverhill pleaded not guilty to multiple charges including armed assault to murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, mayhem and negligent driving.
Kavanaugh is accused of attacking a 54-year-old woman and her 26-year-old daughter as the two were walking their dogs on Fairview Farm Road around 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday.

New Bedford Man Charged With Giving Obscene Material to a Minor
ACUSHNET A New Bedford man was arrested Wednesday by Acushnet Police on a warrant for allegedly giving obscene material to a minor.
Acushnet Police Chief Christopher Richmond confirmed to WBSM News that Naveen Kumar, 24, of 2840 Acushnet Avenue, New Bedford, was arrested by Acushnet Police on February 24, 2021, at approximately 5:15 p.m. on a warrant issued out of Haverhill District Court for “disseminating obscene material to a minor.”
Chief Richmond said Kumar was booked at Acushnet Police headquarters and then transported that night to Ash Street Jail in New Bedford.
According to the Essex County District Attorney’s Office, Kumar was arraigned February 25 in Haverhill District Court on one count of disseminating obscene matter to a minor.
