Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation (EVN
HCMC) held an awards ceremony for the 2020 emulation programme “Power-saving
families” on January 26.
Launched by the municipal Steering Committee for Power Supply, Saving,
and Safety and EVN HCMC, the ceremony aims to encourage households to join
hands to use electricity effectively and economically and raise public
awareness about the effort.
The organising board said nearly 900,000 households saved 443.67 million
kWh of electricity last year, helping reduce carbon dioxide emissions by over

Ten localities suggest allocating 10,000 tonnes of rice for Lunar New Year
Ten localities suggested allocating nearly 10,000 tonnes of rice for residents during the upcoming Lunar New Year festival, heard a press conference hosted by the General Department of State Reserves in Hanoi on January 8.
In 2020, the general department provided 132,100 tonnes of rice worth over 1.4 trillion VND.
Deputy head of the State Reserves Goods Management Department Pham Viet Ha said when the central region was hit by floods last year, over 19,000 tonnes of rice worth 213 billion VND (9.26 million USD) along with search and rescue equipment valued at around 202.9 billion VND were earmarked for them.

Doan Le Hoang Tan, 33, deputy director of the Centre for Innovative Materials and Architectures under the Vietnam National University-HCM City, was recently honoured as one of the 10 outstanding young scientists, making him one of the 2020 Golden Globe Award winners.

The award is handed out by the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the Ministry of Science and Technology to recognise successful research of young scientists in information and technology, medicine, biology, the environment and new materials.
