Australian PM backs new technologies for green future at global Climate Summit
Prime Minister Scott Morrison has assured a global Climate Summit, hosted by President of the United States Joe Biden, that Australia will meet net-zero carbon targets through new technologies.
While adoption of renewable energy sources has soared in recent years – primarily because of the work of the states – Mr Morrison said it’s our advancements in hydrogen and green steel that will achieve net-zero targets.
“We are investing around $20 billion to achieve ambitious goals that will bring the cost of clean hydrogen, green steel, energy storage and carbon capture to commercial parity.”

US Supports Australia’s Move to Cancel Belt and Road
U.S. State Department spokesperson Ned Price said the United States supports Australia’s decision to cancel two Belt and Road Initiative arrangements with Beijing.
“We continue to stand with the people of Australia as they bear the brunt of the PRC’s coercive behavior,” Price said. “The Australian government had determined that the agreements … to be inconsistent with Australia’s foreign policy or adverse to Australia’s foreign relations.”
In total, Australia’s federal government cancelled four arrangements between the Victorian state government and foreign powers, including Iran, Syria, and China.
