Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], January 17 (ANI): Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar on Wednesday participated in a mega plantation drive organised by Hyderabad City Police which aims to plant 10,000 saplings.
Kumar said that every member of the police department, from security guards to senior officers, will participate in the plantation drive.
Anjani Kumar told ANI, Hyderabad City Police is conducting a mega tree plantation drive. Each and every officer right from security guards to all the senior officers are taking part in this mega plantation drive. We aim to plant more than about 10,000 plants.

Six members of an ‘organised’ attention diversion gang, including four women, were apprehended by the Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force (North Zone) here on Monday.
The gang used to visit jewellery shops in the guise of prospective customers, divert the attention of shop owners and steal silver ornaments. Police seized 1,070 grams of silver articles, an auto rickshaw and four mobile phones, all worth ₹ 2.50 lakh, from the possession of the accused and detected three cases.
The accused have been identified as Yata Renuka, Munnelli Kiran, Yata Thulasi, Yata Swetha, Yata Raju and Elizabeth Rani all relatives who hail from Andhra Pradesh’s Prakasam district. They were handed over to different police stations in Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda commissionerates.

WhatsApp messenger groups of a few police stations in Hyderabad are now home to conversations around fitness, in addition to discussing crime updates.
Sharing details about the new fitness initiative which was launched in eastern zone of Hyderabad Commissionerate, Joint Commissioner of Police M. Ramesh said that in the police department, the health quotient of personnel is now being focused on, with policemen being encouraged to walk at least 6,000 steps or 4 km per day and share the screenshots of their physical activity.

An alleged serial killer, whose primary victims were women, was apprehended, police said on Tuesday.
The accused has been identified as Maina Ramulu (45), a stone cutter and resident of Borabanda. According to Hyderabad Commissioner of Police Anjani Kumar, he was arrested in connection with 21 cases, of which 16 are under the ‘murder for gain’ category. The apprehension of Ramulu led to the detection of two murders, that of Kavala Venkatamma (50), a resident of Venkatagiri in Jubilee Hills, and of an unidentified woman aged between 35 and 45 years. “He was married at an early age after which his wife escaped.
