Swampy LEAVES anti-HS2 protest tunnels

12:47 EDT, 25 February 2021 Swampy has finally left the anti-HS2 tunnels in London after 30 days along with two other activists before the trio were arrested by police.  Their exit leaves a lone protester called Bradley still underground trying to stop the high-speed rail line going ahead, it was revealed today. The protest below Euston Square Gardens is fast approaching the longest in UK history where Essex bypass objectors dug in for 40 days in 2000. This morning Dan Hooper, better known as Swampy, 48, and Isla Sandford, 18, the daughter of millionaire Scottish landowner Roc Sandford known as Blue, clambered out with an unnamed comrade before officers arrested them.

By Press Association 2021 The anti-HS2 camp An environmental activist evicted from the network of tunnels beneath Euston Square Gardens in protest at the HS2 railway line is due to appear in court. Larch Maxey, 48, was removed from the site by bailiffs on Monday after almost a month underground and was handed over to the Metropolitan Police. The activist, from the group HS2 Rebellion, has now been charged with failing to surrender in relation to a previous court appearance, theft and obstructing or disrupting a person engaged in lawful activity. Maxey, a geography lecturer, is due to appear at Highbury Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday morning.
