Why is HS2 eco-warrior camp STILL standing 13 days into tunnel protest?

12:00 EDT, 8 February 2021 Advertisement A Tory backbencher has led calls for the immediate removal of the dangerous anti-HS2 campsite in Euston, including wooden shacks which cover a 100ft tunnel network - after bailiffs first started evicting eco-warriors protesting the controversial £98billion rail project 13 days ago.  Six HS2 Rebellion activists including veteran environmental campaigner Swampy, real name Daniel Hooper, and his son Rory are occupying the tunnels dug in secret near Euston Station in Central London. MailOnline understands that the wooden shacks cover an entrance to the tunnel network and that they will be torn down by contractors at an appropriate point in HS2 s safety-led approach . The National Eviction Team, which is leading the operation, declined to comment.

Court Covid safety confusion continues

Court safety during the pandemic continued to come under scrutiny last week, with reports of Covid outbreaks in buildings and solicitors exposed to clients with symptoms. Doncaster Justice Centre North closed for a day after HM Courts & Tribunal Service said a ‘small number’ of staff and court users were thought to be infected. The site was deep cleaned and reopened within a day, but one user told the Gazette the outbreak was bigger, with as many as 14 – including two solicitors – showing symptoms. In London, criminal defence firm JFH Crime said a client had been brought to Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court with obvious Covid symptoms, but nobody informed her solicitor before she saw him. The solicitor is isolating for 10 days and was due to be tested to see if she had caught the virus.
