The Shenandoah Valley Electric Cooperative Operation Round Up Committee has awarded $22,500 in grants to 14 area organizations.
The 10-person panel, composed of nine members and an SVEC employee, uses funds from co-op members who voluntarily round up their bills to the nearest even dollar. SVEC assists with a corporate contribution.

Graveside funeral services to celebrate the life of Tina Beaham Shirley will be Saturday, Jan. 9 at 11 a.m. at Memory Lawn Cemetery in Natchitoches under the direction of Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. The service will be officiated by James Shirley.
Tina passed away Jan. 6, 2021, after a brief illness at the age of 62. She was born Oct. 6, 1958, in Alexandria to Harvey and Addie Rae Beaham.
She was a graduate of Hickory Ridge High School. She married Michael Shirley, her beloved husband of nearly 40 years, Feb. 7, 1981. Tina was a graduate of Northwestern State University, where she earned both a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Speech and Language Pathology. This led to a 24 year career working as a speech therapist in the Natchitoches Parish school system. She loved both her work and her students, and enjoyed following their progress all throughout their lives.
