UK Civil Aviation Authority will closely monitor the situation
British Transport Secretary Grant Shapps announced today that Boeing 777 aircraft with Pratt & Whitney 4000-112 series engines are being banned from British airspace.
UK regulator’s decision follows dramatic engine failures on two different aircraft over the weekend that caused engine debris to rain down from the sky.
“After issues this weekend, Boeing 777s with Pratt & Whitney 4000-112 series engines will be temporarily banned from entering the UK airspace,” Shapps said in a statement on Monday.
