A huge array of EVs from new and established brands alike are heading this way
There are only a handful of electric vehicles on sale in Australia today, but there’s a battalion of battery-powered models about to silently drive across the horizon.
Electric cars have struggled to gain traction among local new car buyers, primarily because of the limited number of models available but also the significantly higher price tags slapped on their windscreens and a general lack of education about the growing charging network and the benefits of owning an electric car.

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 11: A woman and her son were among three individuals arrested by the police for alleged drug trafficking during a raid in Petaling Jaya yesterday.
Petaling Jaya district police chief ACP Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said the 49-year-old woman, who has three previous record for drug-related offences, and her 25-year-old son, with seven records for drug cases, were arrested during a raid at Jalan Gasing, PJS 10, at about 12.30 pm.
The police seized 62 grammes of heroin, three grammes of syabu and a Hyundai Atos car, he said in a statement today.
To put it into context, there were only 1.55 million new vehicles sold in Canada in 2020, a loss of nearly 400,000 sales from the prior year’s total. The majority of those losses, as you’d expect, occurred during the second quarter, a three-month period that saw sales volume plunge by more than 250,000 vehicles.
Each of Canada’s ten worst-selling vehicles reported decreased sales, but that’s hardly unique. Rare was the established model that
didn’t report a decrease, and the Ford Explorer, Toyota Tacoma, and Chevrolet Corvette were among the few exceptions. Separating the worst sellers from their unashamed brethren isn’t their rate of decline. Rather, it’s the sheer scarcity of demand.

By the early 1990s, the little Justy was the final holdout for bargain-basement Subaru econoboxes, and most of the ones I find here in Denver are the slightly-more-desirable four-wheel-drive versions.
