Holywell councillor steps into mayoral role for final time

HOLYWELL has appointed its next mayor. Councillors met virtually on Tuesday evening to appoint Cllr Ted Palmer as their new town mayor through to May 2022. It follows his service as deputy mayor under Cllr Lynda Carter who handed the title to him digitally via Zoom – with a physical hand over of the mayoral chains to take place at a later date under COVID secure conditions. On his appointment, Cllr Palmer said: “I must congratulate you Lynda on your year – you’ve done some innovative things and I look forward to serving as the mayor for the final time as I won’t put myself forward to be mayor again.”

Greenfield Station revival must go ahead or see residents risk being left behind , says MP

PLANS to bring a rail station back to life near Holywell has the backing of the local MP. Delyn’s Rob Roberts joined Cllr Barry Scragg of Holywell Town Council, along with projects and development officer Martin Fearnley, on a visit to the site of the proposed Greenfield Train Station. Councillor Scragg and Mr Fearnley took the opportunity to guide the Conservative MP around the proposed site just off Dock Road, explaining why the town council is so keen to have a station at the site. Issues around transportation and connectivity continue to be a major talking point across North Wales – and residents in and around the rural Holywell area are no different. Travellers must rely on using their own car or have no other option but to depend on patchy bus services.
