SEBI Imposes Rs70 Crore Penalty on Reliance Industries, Mukesh Ambani for Fraudulent Trading in F&O of RPL in 2007

Market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has imposed a penalty of Rs70 crore on Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL), the company chairman Mukesh Ambani, Navi Mumbai SEZ Pvt Ltd and Mumbai SEZ Ltd, for fraudulent trading in the futures & options (F&O), or derivatives, space in Reliance Petroleum Ltd (RPL). This is in addition to a previous order for disgorgement of nearly Rs1,000 crore with interest, which was upheld by the Securities Appellate Tribunal (SAT) and is now being challenged in the Supreme Court by RIL.

Sri Lanka-Russia Business Council holds 17th AGM

The Sri Lanka - Russia Business Council of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce held its 17th Annual General Meeting virtually on 28th October 2020. Yuri Borisovich Materiy, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Sri Lanka and to the Maldives graced the occasion and address the online gathering as the patron of the Council.
While congratulating the newly appointed executive committee for the period 2020-2021, Yuri Borisovich Materiy stated; “Sri Lanka remains one of the key partners for Russia in South Asia. Our ties continue to deepen in many spheres. Further impetus to our relations was given by the positive results of the visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov to Sri Lanka on the 14th of January, this year.
