Holmen Volleyball enjoying second chance at a season

Holmen volleyball is getting a second chance at playing their sport thanks to the WIAA alternate fall season.
The Vikings got just two matches in last fall before Holmen High School shut sports down, but over the next couple months Holmen will get to play another 12 matches.
Coach Sammi Maier opted not to use contact days so that all the girls could focus on their winter seasons, but there’s evidently no rust to shake off; the team is 3-0 and has only dropped one set.
The Vikings say their quick and dominant start isn’t much of a surprise, and even though they won’t play for a conference or state title, there’s plenty to play for.

Lincoln – The fourth-ranked Nebraska bowling team announced the signing of Anna Callan to join the team for the 2021-22 season.
“Anna will be a great addition to our program,” Head Coach
Paul Klempa stated. “She is a fierce competitor and has a very supportive family. Her brother and sister are current collegiate players. Competitive bowling just runs in her family. Anna is a four-time conference champion in high school bowling in Wisconsin and has won multiple titles in very competitive tournaments in her region, including being the 2020 Midwest Youth Champion. I know Anna is as excited to be a Husker as we are to welcome her to the family that is Husker Bowling.”

Holmen High School unveils new memorial wall
February 18, 2021 11:30 PM Molly Ringberg
HOLMEN, Wis. (WKBT) – Holmen students, parents, and community members are celebrating the return of the high school’s memorial wall; which honors students and staff who have passed away.
In June 2020, the district announced it was removing the wall for renovations and would not be putting it back up.
School district board members learned that the memorial is not just special to families, but to the entire school community.
“We learned that when people would come to games or events in the district, even people who didn’t have a family member on the wall but might have a classmate on the wall, they would go and just check it out and just remember that classmate,” said School Board President, Cheryl Hancock.
