As of January 2, 2021, the Saline County Health Department had confirmed 2,225 cases of the virus. With 2,052 cases currently inactive and 44 deaths, 129 cases remain active.

As of December 30, the Carroll County Health Department had confirmed 807 total cases of the virus. With 750 cases released from public health isolation and 22 deaths, 35 cases remain active.

More cases of recoveries than new cases were reported in Chariton County on Saturday. According to the Chariton County Health Center, three new cases were reported and seven cases were released from public health isolation. This makes a total of 672 COVID-19 cases in Chariton County. With 584 of those cases released from public health isolation, and 15 deaths, 73 cases remain active.
MD health leaders warn against premature vaccine appointments article
In Maryland, local leaders are warning against people using private links to sign up for coronavirus vaccines before they are eligible.
At just one hospital system: Holy Cross Health in Montgomery County, more than 2,000 people have already inappropriately signed up for vaccines meant for healthcare workers.
Howard County tweeted about the issue, writing in part of a thread on Thursday afternoon:

Waterford Place Health Campus has reported 45 positive COVID-19 cases among its residents and 33 staff infections in December, marking the largest outbreak in months inside a local nursing home.
Since November, the assisted living facility on St. Joseph Drive has reported 20 cumulative COVID-related deaths among both residents and employees. Five of those resident deaths occurred last week, according to state data.
In total, the facility reported 121 presumed positive cases of COVID among both its residents and employees. So far, 80 have recovered from the virus, as of Thursday.
On Thursday, Waterford Place had 13 active COVID-positive residents, which equals over 14% of the entire resident population, according to numbers provided by the company. Seven active employees also had the virus out of a 115 workers.
Some Marylanders who are not eligible to receive the coronavirus vaccine are trying to get it anyway, according to health officials in Howard County.
“The health department is currently focused on providing vaccine for first responders and healthcare providers with direct patient care responsibilities in private clinics,” county health officials said on Twitter.

But some of those people in the eligible category who have received private links to register for a vaccination have gone on to share their links with family members, friends and colleagues who have tried to make appointments for themselves.
