For allegedly resisting arrest on December 19, a New Franklin man has been charged with a felony. A Howard County Sheriff’s department report says deputies were dispatched to a report of an assault in progress between a male and female. Deputies and a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper were on the scene, and Ian Hugh Brennan failed to comply with their orders. Brennan had to be Tased, but it had no effect. Eventually authorities wrestled Brennan to the ground, and he continued to resist. Eventually they put him in handcuffs. During the scuffle, one of the deputies suffered injuries. During the original incident, a woman told authorities that Brennan had refused to let her go upstairs to get her stuff. She said Brennan carried her out the front door, grabbed her wrists, dragged her down the steps and pushed her into the front yard.
