Howard County Executive Calvin Ball said Thursday his team is working to get more residents vaccinated, but the supply is much lower than the demand. We re hopeful for an increased supply soon and we will provide appointments as soon as we are able, Ball said.
Though Maryland is in Phase 1C of its vaccine strategy, Howard County remains in 1B. And for the 55,000 seniors, first responders, teachers and other county residents in phases 1A and 1B, the county has received only around 15,000 doses.

Howard County school system Superintendent Michael Martirano is proposing an operating budget of $932 million for the next fiscal year that adds more than 130 teachers and staff to address special education needs, expected enrollment growth and mental health services.
The Maryland Department of Transportation’s draft five-year budget provides only an average of $326 million per year for critical repair needs, while the agency’s own Capital Needs Inventory called for an average of $462 million per year, the Democratic officials said.
