LAHORE: The Muttahida Ulema Board, with the assistance of leadership of all religions, will launch an awareness campaign on blasphemy laws.
Misuse of blasphemy laws is being contained as during the last seven months not a single FIR has been registered illegally and instances of forced conversions and forced marriages are declining, said Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi, Chairman Pakistan Ulema Council, Muttahida Ulema Board and Special Aide to Prime Minister on Interfaith Harmony and Middle East. Addressing a press conference, along with leadership of different religious schools of thought, here on Sunday, Hafiz Tahir Ashrafi said the Muttahida Ulema Board is playing a very positive role to eradicate the menace of extremism, terrorism and sectarian violence. Govt Clarifies Rumors on Aitekaf Ban This Year
The Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Religious Harmony and the Middle East, Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi, has clarified that there is no ban on the observance Aitekaf in mosques across Pakistan.
He rebuffed the rumors about a ban on Aitekaf that are circulating on social media as he addressed a news conference in Islamabad.
Ashrafi said that instead of banning Aitkaf, the government will issue COVID-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) to curtail the transmission of the coronavirus among those observing Aetikaf.

After Backlash, Govt Takes a U-Turn on Islamic Content in Curriculum
The government of Punjab has withdrawn a notification for the omittance of Islamic content except for Islamic Studies from the curriculum.
The resolution to withdraw the decision was taken by the concerned department based on the directives of Governor Punjab, Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar. The development was made in consideration of the public uproar against the recommendation by the Minority Commission to omit Islamic content from general subjects and to include it in Islamiyat only.
