Ready for your shot? Here s where you can get a vaccine

Vaccines are now open to groups 1-3, with three approved vaccines being offered at various health departments, pharmacies, health groups and vaccination clinics. (Port City Daily/File) SOUTHEASTERN N.C.  More supply is coming to North Carolina, which means more providers have been onboarded to give the shots. As April 7 approaches, when vaccines open to any North Carolinian that wants one, where to get a vaccine is still top-of-mind for many. Below are a list of places that are administering or are on a list to receive doses. County health departments, hospitals, health groups, vaccination events and clinics, and pharmacies in southeastern N.C. are giving the shots. Port City Daily will continue to update the list as more providers are onboarded.

Listen to the story here. It s been close to three months since North Carolina rolled out its vaccination program, now being extended to the third of five groups. So how do those who have already received the shot feel about it? Danielle Smallwood is a third-grade teacher at Murrayville Elementary. She got her first dose as part of New Hanover County’s efforts to vaccinate teachers last week:  “I know there are a lot of people who are in the 65 and older category, and they still have not gotten their vaccine. And I feel awful, but at the same time, I just feel very fortunate to have gotten it because with working so closely with kids all day long, I just feel much better about being here with them.”

The health department teamed up with NHRMC to host three clinics at the Pointe Movie Theater, the MLK Center, and Trask Middle School. “I personally feel so lucky to have gotten this vaccine, I just think back to all the news stories I hear about teachers and even the students and even my own family members that didn’t I don’t get to see again because they didn’t make it. They weren’t able to get that vaccine,” said Destiney Acosta.
