A spokeswoman for the state Department of Aging said the agency tried to prioritize Luzerne County residents when it helped schedule appointments for this weekâs vaccine clinic at Hanover Area High School that has caused controversy for lack of access.
The Department of Aging partnered with retailer Walmart, the vaccine distributor, to schedule vaccine appointments for vulnerable seniors enrolled in the stateâs PACE program that assists seniors with their prescription medication needs, said Department of Aging communications director Karen Gray.
Many local residents were angered when they found out the clinicâs appointments were filled before the event was publicized in the local media.
