“The first doses are going to go to healthcare providers that actively deal with COVID,” Moser said. Pender County submitted a list to the state for review of 307 healthcare workers who are in close contact with patients who have tested positive for COVID-19 and who want to receiving the vaccine. They will be among the first to get it. The remaining doses will be given to healthcare providers who may have been left off the initial list or who have changed their mind about receiving the vaccine. If they have extra doses, the county will begin contacting people who might have indirect contact with COVID-19 patients, including morticians and workers who clean in health settings.

According to officials, the driver of the truck suffered a medical issue before hitting the Kenan Fountain at the intersection at 5th and Market streets at approximately 1:30 p.m. The truck went airborne, flipped over and slid about half of a block before striking a parked city bus The driver of the truck was taken to the New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Police officials say he is recovering and only suffered minor injuries.

(WECT) - The federal government has allocated 61,425 doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for North Carolina for the week of Dec. 21 through Dec. 27. According to information from the N.C. Department of Health and Social Services, the Pfizer vaccines will be delivered to 47 locations this week. “Because the Pfizer vaccine must be shipped in units of 975 doses, fewer hospitals will receive Week 2 shipments of the Pfizer vaccine,” the NCDHHS said. “The allocation was based on county population, acute + ICU beds for hospitals and managing Pfizer’s shipping requirements (a minimum of 975 doses to each location).
