Browns Announce Signing Of Former Ohio State Star

There’s a lot of overlap between Cleveland Browns fans and Ohio State Buckeyes fans. And one newly-minted Browns player will get to experience that overlap up close and in-person.
On Friday, the Cleveland Browns signed Tommy Togiai to a rookie contract. Togiai was the Browns’ No. 132 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft last month.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) With spring practice in the books, Ohio State’s quarterback derby will carry over into fall workouts.
That’s not a surprise, considering the candidates to succeed star Justin Fields are two second-year players and a true freshman. Neither has thrown a pass in a college game.
C.J. Stroud, Jack Miller III and early-enrollee Kyle McCord all got plenty of action in Saturday’s annual spring game, none gaining a clear edge. Stroud and McCord each threw two touchdown passes in the controlled scrimmage.
“This was very similar to what this whole spring has been,” coach Ryan Day said. “Some good, some not so good and a lot of learning opportunities there. There are flashes here and there, and then there are just some learning opportunities. The race is on over the next few months to see who can make the next stride.”
C.J. Stroud and Kyle McCord each threw two touchdown passes while Emeka Egbuka had 123 receiving yards and Jack Sawyer had three sacks in Saturday s spring game. Jack Miller started behind center for Team Buckeye and completed six of his first eight passing attempts for 51 yards – and one of his incompletions was dropped by Jameson Williams – but the game’s opening drive ended with Ryan Watts intercepting a Miller pass in the end zone. C.J. Stroud started the game for Team Brutus and promptly put his arm on display on his second play in the game, completing a 40-yard deep ball to Chris Olave, who made a leaping catch over newly converted cornerback Demario McCall. Stroud completed his opening drive by throwing a 5-yard touchdown pass to freshman receiver Marvin Harrison Jr.
