Be The People host Swain is speaker in AU's Faith and Society series

Ashland Times Gazette ASHLAND Be The People podcast host and award-winning political scientist Carol Swain will speak Wednesday, May 5, at 7 p.m. at the Hugo Young Theatre on the Ashland University campus. The presentation, which is free and open to the public, is part of  the University’s Faith and Society Lecture Series, sponsored by the Hilda E. Bretzlaff Foundation. COVID-19 protocols, including wearing face coverings inside of buildings and social distancing, will be observed. Kingwood Storybook Trail Kingwood Center Gardens is featuring a new book on the Storybook Trail for the spring season. “The Thing About Spring,” written by Daniel Kirk, follows Bear, Bird and Mouse who have waited for spring to come. Their friend Rabbit loves winter and does not share their excitement about the changing of the seasons. Rabbit learns from his friends the many things there are to love about spring. The Storybook Trail is open during garden hours, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and is located along the Nature Trail that begins at the Peacock Playhouse. Senior Art and Design Exhibition

Ashland University's Reed to give clarinet, saxophone recital

Ashland University ASHLAND - Thomas Reed, professor of music at Ashland University, will present a recital of clarinet and saxophone music Sunday, March 14 at 7:30 p.m. in the Hugo Young Theatre, 331 College Ave. He will perform with Susan Gregg, piano, and Jane Reed, violin. Recital is free and open to the public The recital is free and open to the public. Seating will be limited to ensure social distancing, and audience members will be required to wear face coverings at all times. The recital will include “Ballad” by George Gershwin, “Trio” by Aram Khachaturian, “Canzonetta” by Gabriel Pierne, “Les Folies d’Espagne” by Marin Marais, “Aeterna” by John Anthony Lennon and “Fantaisie” by Jean-Baptiste Singelee.
