Jedes Sommersemester wählen die Studierenden der Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz ihr Studierendenparlament.
Die Koalition mit den meisten Sitzen stellt dann den Allgemeinen Studierendenausschuss, kurz AStA.
Dort arbeiten verschiedene Arbeitsbereiche zu unterschiedlichen Themengebieten, wie zum Beispiel Presse und Öffentlichkeitsarbeit, Soziales oder Verkehr.
Der aktuelle AStA wird von einer Koaltion von CampusGrün und dem RCDS gestellt..
