É também onde se localiza a escola de samba Tom Maior.HistóriaSeu nome se origina da "Chácara do Bom Retiro", uma das destinadas ao recreio das famílias ricas nos idos do século XIX, dentre elas a do marquês de Três Rios, Joaquim Egídio de Sousa Aranha, abastado fazendeiro campineiro, que por três vezes foi presidente da Província de São Paulo, onde ficava o Solar do Marquês, mais tarde sede da Escola Politécnica da USP, onde se hospedou a família imperial.
