Detailed description is Built in 1964, for the community of Werribee, to replace the Mechanics Institute Hall.
Werribee Centenary Hall (1964-2000).
Centenary Hall was opened September 11th 1964 by the Victorian Premier Henry Bolte.

It was built for the Mechanics Institute, with a loan given by T&G Mutual, on the original site of the Mechanics Institute Hall..
The building was planned and raised by the hard working Mechanics Institute committee, led by President Mr.
J Callanan, and Secretary Mr.
W.P.
O’Brien..
By 1969 the Committee was in trouble financially as income from the hire of Centenary Hall was insufficient to cover the costs of the loan to T&G..
In 1970 T&G ‘repossessed’ Centenary Hall, and held an auction to try and sell the building..
Unable to reach an agreed price, Centenary Hall was passed in at auction..
Shortly after, Werribee Council commenced negotiations with T&G to purchase the Hall, but it was not until 1971 that an agreement was reached..
