Detailed description is La Chiesa è situata nel quartiere più a nord dell'abitato da dove si ha una bellissima visuale sulla Valle D'Agrò Chiesa di San Filippo D'Agira - Limina ME.
Non si conosce l'anno di costruzione dell'antichissima Chiesa, che era situata nel quartiere più a nord dell'abitato la quale da lui aveva preso il nome, nelle vicinanze della spianata chiamata "Piano San Filippo"..
La forma, da quanto è stato possibile accertare, doveva essere simile a quella attuale e la sua utilizzazione era legata alle celebrazioni in onore del Santo..

Il 10 Maggio 1930 Don Giuseppe Maria Ferrara benedice la nuova costruzione che in quel periodo conteneva un altare in legno e il fercolo del Santo..
Per circa 2 decenni la Chiesa a svolto regolarmente le sue funzioni; seguì poi un graduale e lento abbandono che portò prima al trasferimento della statua del Santo alla Chiesa Madre di San Sebastiano Martire e successivamente, il 4 agosto 1969, al crollo della copertura in legno ricoperta con tegole di fabbricazione locale..
Da quel periodo la Chiesa non viene aperta al culto, data la necessità di eseguire lavori di ristrutturazioni nel suo interno e viene gradualmente utilizzata esclusivamente come magazzino e deposito di vario materiale oltre che delle vecchie vare.
Nel 1977 viene presentata una richiesta di finanziamento tramite cantieri di lavoro, e nel 1987 il Parroco Don Giuseppe Tatì avvia le procedure per redigere un nuovo progetto di ristrutturazione complessiva del sacro edificio.
Nell'autunno del 1989 l'assessorato regionale al lavoro comunicava l'avvenuto finanziamento e dopo alcuni ritardi burocratici il 21 settembre 1991 si dava inizio ai lavori.
Completati i restauri del sacro edificio una miriade di fedeli residenti in tutto il mondo partecipa all'arredo dello stesso offrendo numerosi doni..

Il 9 maggio 1992, alla vigilia dei festeggiamenti religiosi in onore del Santo, si è svolta la cerimonia di benedizione e inaugurazione del restaurato tempio, che ha visto inoltre il trasferimento del Santo dalla Chiesa Madre alla sua nuova Chiesa; il parroco Don Giuseppe Tatì a presenziato alla manifestazione che si è svolta nella piazza antistante ed alla quale hanno preso parte tutte le autorità civili e militari di Limina, e moltissimi fedeli accorsi da tutto il comprensorio.
Nell'aprile del 1993 si eseguono i lavori di realizzazione della copertura a falde della chiesa che viene così riportata al suo antico aspetto originario.
Nel dicembre dell' 1997 vengono eseguiti all'interno dell'edificio dei lavori finalizzati alla collocazione di decorazioni artistiche e alla pitturazione dello stesso.
