In our area, the need has never been greater, especially in Norfolk County.
In the days of regional government, Delhi and area had the Delhi Township Council to advocate for our interests.
After moving to a single tier municipal government, however, Delhi’s Township council was dissolved.
That advocacy role then fell to our Delhi and area representatives on Norfolk County council.
As hard working and diligent as our councilors are, there is also a need for a grassroots organization such as the Chamber of Commerce to advocate for Delhi and area at the municipal level.

In addition, we need a strong and effective Chamber to advocate for Delhi and area at the provincial and federal levels of government.
In these challenging economic times, all levels of government will be looking at their priorities.
The need for an effective, broad based Chamber has never been greater in order to ensure that our voice is heard when governments and school boards are planning our future..

Over the years, the Delhi Chamber has been quite active in a number of extremely important community initiatives including:.

• The campaign to save Delhi District Secondary School.
• The campaign to establish the Delhi Community Health Centre.
• Our annual dinner at which we recognize our Citizen’s of the year and other individuals and organizations who have made significant contributions towards making Delhi and area a better place to live and work.

Recently, the Delhi Chamber of Commerce has become a member of the “South Coast Business Coalition”.
This new organization represents all of the Chambers of Commerce and Boards of Trade in Norfolk County.
Now, when issues of economic importance to the county (or to any particular area of the county) come forward, this new organization can speak with one voice when communicating with our political leaders..

The major project that is currently being studied by the group is the new amalgamated Norfolk County zoning bylaw that is currently being drafted..
