It was selected for Special Assistance Program (SAP), under DSA in 1979 and subsequently it completed four phases of SAP till 2005.
In 2004, the department was selected for UGC’S ASHISS Program, which continued till 2007.
In 2005 it was upgraded as Centre for Advanced Studies, whose second phase is ongoing at present, since 2015.
