Detailed description is Head for the Cure 5K - North Texas is back for its 7th year on May 6th, 2017 at Oak Point Park in Plano.

At the age of 28, Stevie Patrick, a resident of Frisco, was diagnosed with stage 3 brain cancer on May 15, 2010.
She was one of the 200,000 people diagnosed every year to develop this type of brain cancer.
She lost her battle 3.5 years later and has left behind a legacy of love, faith and courage for the many people fighting this disease.

Friends close to Stevie wanted to help, so they reached out to Head for the Cure, a non-profit organization based in Kansas City, MO.
Their mission is to raise funds for brain cancer research.
They immediately embraced her story and we were able to debut our first event on May 14, 2011, in Frisco, TX.
The outpouring of support from the community was overwhelming.
More than 2,200 participants and 62 teams showed up in force for our inaugural event, and combined with several generous sponsorships, we raised nearly $150,000 (gross) for the foundation our first year.
