Detailed description is L'hôtel de ville de Mont-de-Marsan est un bâtiment administratif accueillant les services de la mairie de Mont-de-Marsan, chef-lieu du département français des Landes.PrésentationAvant de devenir l'hôtel de ville le 20 janvier 1946, le bâtiment, construit entre 1897 et 1901 d'après les plans de Pierre Depruneaux, accueille successivement le cercle des officiers, la Caisse d'Épargne puis le musée municipal.
De style néoclassique, le bâtiment est fait de pierres de taille et d'ardoises, lui conférant une certaine importance.Les sculptures, datant de 1899, sont l'œuvre de Jean-Éloi Ducom.
L'artiste choisit de représenter trois personnages de la mythologie grecque : Héraclès, Athéna et probablement Thésée, symbolisant le courage, la stratégie et la force.
Les armoiries de la ville sont taillées dans la pierre du frontispice.De nos jours, la tradition veut que le maire remette les clefs de la ville aux jeunes montois sur le perron de l'hôtel de ville pour marquer l'ouverture officielle des fêtes de la Madeleine.Avant 1946, un autre édifice, l'actuelle bibliothèque municipale, faisait office d'hôtel de ville.
Sa construction date de 1846, à l'emplacement d'un bâtiment plus ancien accueillant déjà l'hôtel de ville.
Cet édifice a longtemps accueilli une statue en plâtre représentant le maréchal Bosquet.
La salle du conseil municipal de l'époque est décorée en 1902 par l'artiste montois Jean Henri Tayan (1855-1931), et le premier étage accueillait déjà la bibliothèque de la ville.
