Detailed description is Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia do Norte de Minas Gerais - Campus Pirapora O Campus Pirapora foi criado através da Lei N.º 11.892, de 29 de dezembro de 2008, a partir da integração do CEFET de Januária e da Escola Agrotécnica Federal de Salinas, juntamente com as Unidades de Ensino Descentralizadas (UNEDs) de Almenara, Araçuaí, Arinos e Montes Claros.
Assim, o Campus Pirapora tornou-se uma das Unidades de Ensino integrantes do Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia do Norte de Minas Gerais, que é administrado, coordenado e supervisionado pela Reitoria, órgão executivo do IFNMG, localizada em Montes Claros.

A sede do Campus Pirapora é em Pirapora (MG), município que é o polo e o segundo centro de industrialização da mesorregião norte de Minas.
