Was das Entwickeln von Computersystemen und Softwarewerkzeugen anbetrifft, blickt die ETH Zürich auf eine langwährende und erfolgreiche Geschichte zurück.
Aus dieser Tradition heraus wurde das Departement Informatik (D-INFK) im Jahre 1981 gegründet.
Seitdem wuchs es stetig und hat sich schnell zu einer renommierten Institution entwickelt, an der jetzt mehr als 30 Professoren aus über zehn Nationen tätig sind.
Über 200 Doktoranden und wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiter sowie mehr als 50 Promovierte und leitende Wissenschaftler tragen ihren Teil dazu bei, das hohe Niveau in Lehre und Forschung aufrecht zu erhalten, für das das Departement weltweit bekannt ist.
Von dieser Qualität profitieren mehr als 800 Studierende (rund 500 im Bachelor- und 300 im Masterstudiengang), von denen in der Vergangenheit viele eine erfolgreiche Karriere in der Industrie oder im akademischen Bereich machten..

ETH has a long running and successful history of designing computer systems and developing software tools.
Out of this, the Department of Computer Science (D-INFK) was formed in 1981.
Since then, the department has quickly grown and developed into the renowned institution it is today.
