L’Histoire d’INTEREP débute en 1911 quand les frères PFEULMER déposent en France des brevets concernant l’injection de gaz inerte dans des masses pâteuses de caoutchouc.
Immédiatement après ce dépôt de brevet, un groupe d’études, puis un laboratoire d’essai furent créés à Paris et mirent au point ce que l’on a appelé le « caoutchouc mousse ».
Après la guerre, deux usines d’exploitation sont mises sur pied : l’une en Belgique, l’autre en France (à AUREC SUR LOIRE).
Par la suite, ces deux entreprises fusionnèrent et le matériel de Belgique fut transporté à AUREC.
Ceci explique le nom de Société Franco-Belge du Caoutchouc Mousse (SFBCM), alors que la seule usine est française..
