Following the 2006 State Election Jeff was elected the Leader of The Nationals, Leader of the Opposition and Leader of the Queensland Coalition, a position he held until 21 January 2008.
Jeff was elected Leader of the Opposition (LNP) on 22 March 2011 and was the Shadow Minister for State Development, Shadow for Infrastructure and Planning and Shadow Minister for Reconstruction until the 24 March 2012 State Election.
Jeff then became the Deputy Premier and Minister for State Development, Infrastructure and Planning.
Following the State Election of 31 January 2015 he became Chairman of the Opposition Parliamentary Policy Committees.
