Como sindicalista, Juvenal Araújo já assumiu os cargos de superintendente administrativo do Sindicato dos Agentes de Saúde no Estado de Minas Gerais (SINAS-MG), atuou como diretor da Federação Estadual dos Empregados em Estabelecimentos de Saúde de Minas Gerais (FEESSEMG) e diretor de Formação e Educação Sindical da Força Sindical de Minas Gerais.
Em 2010, foi eleito secretário de Formação e Educação Sindical da Força Sindical.
Membro da Executiva Municipal do PSDB de Belo Horizonte, da Executiva Estadual e Nacional, suas ações em defesa da construção e implementação de políticas afirmativas para a população negra o levaram a criação do Secretariado Estadual da Militância Negra do PSDB de Minas Gerais e se tornou um dos fundadores do Secretariado da Militância Negra do PSDB a nivel Nacional, sendo eleito Presidente Nacional deste segmento.
Coordenador do Movimento Atitude Afirmativa, que tem como objetivo fomentar políticas públicas e ações nas áreas de Direitos Humanos, Desenvolvimento Social, igualdade racial, cultura, turismo, educação e qualificação e requalificação de mão-de-obra, dentre outras, no apoio, elaboração e execução de projetos; valorização do capital humano nos seus procedimentos de gestão / desenvolvimento sustentável; resgate da cultura permitindo, sobretudo, um efetivo processo de inclusão e de reintegração das pessoas nos processos políticos, civis, culturais, econômicos, sociais, e ambiental.
A partir de 2016 já assumiu as funções de Secretário Nacional de Políticas de Ações Afirmativas, Secretário Nacional de Políticas para Comunidades Tradicionais e Assessor Especial da Secretaria Especial de Políticas de Promoção da Igualdade Racial ligado ao antigo Ministério da Justiça e Cidadania, assumiu a Secretaria Especial de Politicas de Promoção da Igualdade Racial em 30 de Março de 2017.
