Detailed description is Das Mainzer Polonicum hat als Aufgabe Studenten aller Fachbereiche neben ihrem Hauptstudium die Grundlagen der polnischen Sprache und Kultur zu vermitteln.
Neben dem Sprachunterricht werden auch landeskundliche Kenntnisse vermittelt.
Die Kulturkunde umfasst Aspekte der Geografie, Geschichte, Politik und Wirtschaft.

Die Einrichtung bietet jährlich zwei Kurse (während des Sommer- bzw.
während des Wintersemesters) an.

Aufbau der Kurse:.
Basiskurs für Anfänger.
3 Wochen Intensivkurs (20 UStd./Woche, vor Semesterbeginn).
Grundlagen: Grammatik, Sprechen, Lesen, Schreiben.
Aufbaukurs I.
1 Semester im Anschluss an den Basiskurs (6 UStd./Woche, im Semester).
Vertiefung der im Basiskurs erworbenen Fähigkeiten.
Gastvorträge und Filmvorführungen zu Themen der Landes- und Kulturkunde.
Aufbaukurs II.
2 Wochen Intensivkurs im Anschluss an den Aufbaukurs I (25 UStd./Woche, nach Semesterende in der vorlesungsfreien Zeit).
Systematisierung der Grammatikkenntnisse (Mittelstufe).
intensive Arbeit mit Texten, Übungen zum Textverständnis und zur Hörkompetenz.
Aufbaukurs III.
3 Wochen Sprachaufenthalt in Polen, überwiegend finanziert aus Landesmitteln, im Anschluss an den Aufbaukurs II (25 UStd./Woche, in der vorlesungsfreien Zeit).
Ausbau der Sprachkenntnisse, Vertiefung der Kommunikationskompetenz, Polen und polnische Kultur erleben.
Prüfungsvorbereitung.
1 Woche im Anschluss an den Aufenthalt in Polen (20 UStd./Woche).
Intensive Vorbereitung auf die Prüfung (Stufe B1).
Zertifikatsprüfung.
In der Woche nach der Prüfungs- vorbereitung.
