About Miss B .

I have a 4 year Bachelor of Education from the University of Tasmania, a Post Graduate Certificate in Education and a Masters of Education from the University of Southern Queensland, a Graduate Certificate in Education Studies from Murdoch University, a Teaching English as a Foreign Language Educators certificate from TEFL USA and a Certificate III in Children’s Services.
In addition to the above education and child care qualifications, I have an Associate Diploma of Music Australia, from the Australian Music Examination Board, a Diploma of Arts from the University of Southern Queensland and a Diploma of Tourism from TAFE NSW.

In 2010 and 2011, I was employed by the Department of Education and Training Western Australia, working in a remote aboriginal school as head of music and arts, and high school class teacher.
I travelled to London in 2012 to teach music at St Joseph’s Catholic College in Harrow.
My experiences in teaching have also taken me as far as Sweden (Grades 5-10) and Cronulla (Grades 7-12).
Since returning from London, I have started my own business called 'Miss B's Student Services' which tutors children who need further assistance academically (either to improve gaps in learning or to extend learning) and also tutor music in voice and piano.
I offer occasional babysitting services subject to demand for families in the Launceston and greater Launceston area.
I also teach three days a week at Exeter High School with children who need extra assistance.
I strongly believe in lifelong learning and am always interested in what children can teach me while I teach them.

Whilst head of arts at Meekatharra District High School, I began a curriculum visual arts and music program for the students who had not engaged in these classes previously.
I started an after school arts club for visual arts, music and drama called “A Kick in the Arts” that saw an increasingly strong attendance since its launch.
I taught dance classes in jazz and hip hop after school and this was also well attended.
The introduction of a term based open art gallery was attended by over 300 community members each quarter, as was our music soiree to demonstrate musical progress and performance achievements.
In 2011 I undertook the process of planning and implementing an arts camp for 5 Meekatharra students in grade 5 to Sydney; NSW.
This camp was a great success and was an excellent opportunity for myself and my students.

Two of my most valued career achievements thus far, have been the recognition of my work engaging students in classroom situations.
In 2007 I was awarded a pre service science teachers training award from the University of Tasmania and in 2011 I was awarded a NEITA ASG Inspirational Teaching Award by the members of my school community in Meekatharra.
