La mostra permanente di Gaetano Di Vito, “Alla ricerca delle cose perdute”, nella sua nuova sede, è stata inaugurata il 1 agosto 2011 a Bonito (AV), in vico Masaniello, piccolo vicoletto del corso principale all’altezza dell’antica chiesetta di San Giuseppe.

La tenacia e la perseveranza di Gaetano Di Vito, privato cittadino, hanno portato alla realizzazione di quello che sembrava un sogno solo alcuni mesi fa.
Collezionista da circa venticinque anni, il giovane bonitese ha iniziato a raccogliere oggetti antichi all’età di dieci anni.
La sua collezione si è ingrandita sempre di più nel tempo, abbracciando praticamente un po’ tutti i mestieri, l’oggettistica e le espressioni artistiche della nostra realtà storico-sociale.

La vecchia sede, comunque frequentatissima da semplici appassionati e da studiosi, era divenuta ormai insufficiente e troppo stretta per una corretta fruizione di tutto il materiale esposto..
Ora, grazie anche alla disponibilità privata, la straordinaria mole di oggetti ha trovato la giusta collocazione in un immobile donatogli generosamente dalle sorelle Pagella.
Per volontà della signorina Rosaria, purtroppo recentemente scomparsa, e della sorella, prof.
Ermelinda, Di Vito ha avuto la possibilità di sistemare una volta per tutte le sue molteplici collezioni.
Queste contengono molti oggetti di uso comune ma anche oggetti rari e particolari, alcuni davvero introvabili..
