Detailed description is Presently owned by Ashad Afzal Dole & Sithie Fawzia Dole, as co-owners.
Ancestral family property.
Founded by ABDULLAH ABDUL RAHIM, in 1914.
Total extent of 55 acres.
Property consisted of 46 acres, of Rubber & 8 acres of Tea.

The founder ABDULLAH ABDUL RAHIM, built a very large Bungalow in the property, completed in 1926, for him & his six children to live in.
His children were, SITHIE RAHINA, SITHIE SUFIYA, INUDEEN RAHIM, SITHIE MARLIYA, SITHIE LEILON, & THAJUDEEN RAHIM..

Sithie Rahina, married SHAIKH MOHAMED AMJADEEN, on th 23rd July 1937, & on the same day Sithie Marliya married TUAN HAMEEM CUNCHEER.
Both weddings were held at Rahina Estate..
Sithie Sufiya married ALLALDEEN NASOORDEEN KITCHILAN, & Sithie Leilon married .
TUAN ABDEEN DOLE..

Inudeen Abdul Rahim married ***** SAMSUDEEN, & Thajudeen Abdul Rahim married ASMA MOHAMED..

Prior to his death on the 5th of June 1959,ABDULLAH ABDUL RAHIM, bequeathed, his rights to RAHINA ESTATE, by way of a DEED OF GIFT, to FIVE of his children.
He did not give rights to the property to SITHIE RAHINA, his eldest, though the Estate was named after her.

After the death of ABDULLAH ABDUL RAHIM, in 1959, Sithie Rahina his eldest daughter continued to live here.
At that time the property was to a certain extent managed satisfactorily.
Tragedy struck the family when, Sithie Rahina & her brother-in-law, ALLALDEEN NASOORDEEN KITCHILAN (husband of Sithie Sufiya), died on the same day at Kandy.
After the sudden demise of these two, no one took up the responsibility of living on the property & managing it..

Thajudeen Rahim was given the reins to manage the property but as he never came to live on the property his management of the property was very haphazard & a total breakdown was in the offing..

Inudeen Rahim came to live on the property but his man management, ability was nil, & he was unable to live peacefully with the villagers & had to leave the Bungalow after a very, unfortunate, incident where he was pelted with stones, & assaulted..

Through all this Thajudeen Rahim held the reins to the property, though he never came to live here permanently with his family.
The Bungalow was going into neglect & he never made any repairs to protect it.

Awshad Rahim, Thajudeen's son, did come to live here, in the year 1983, but due to reasons known to him, he too did not continue to live here, & left the place in 1984..

The property had it's own dis-advantages at this time.
It was NOT motorable, the only access being by way of the perennial footpath, used by Abdullah Abdul Rahim the founder.
There was no Electricity, to the Bungalow, & it was lit up by Kerosene lamps only.
There was no running water to the Bungalow, & the water had to be drawn from a well about 100 meters away.
Through all this time Thajudeen Rahim was holding the reins to the property, & there was friction between him & his brothers & sisters, due to his inability to share the little income that was being generated from the property..

Then in the year 1978, Sithie Sufiya(aka..Jemil Allaldeen Kitchilan), died leaving her LAST WILL & bequeathed, her RIGHTS & TITLE, to the property to ASHAD AFZAL DOLE, her younger sister Sithie Leilon's youngest son.

Due to the inability of Thajudeen Rahim to share the profits of the property with his brothers & sisters Sithie Leilon, sought legal redress, but to no avail..
On her eldest son FEIZAL DOLE's, advise, she sought the only option she thought she had, that is to dispose off her RIGHTS & TITLE, to the property to a complete outsider.
She never considered the option of informing her youngest son, Ashad Afzal Dole, who was at that moment holding a share equal to her's, with the rights of Sithie Sufiya with him.
The reason being, that she did not approve his marriage to her sister's daughter Fawzia.
This was in the year 1985..

Sithie Leilon Dole sold her rights to the property on the 14th of November 1985,.
but could NOT, give possesion of these rights to the buyer as it was UN-DIVIDED family property.
Still the person who bought her rights, did so as RAHINA ESTATE carried a heavy prestige, & being a co-owner of it, was a dream of many in the surrounding villages.
This was a very BAD move, by Sithie Leilon Dole, & put our ancestral property in jeopardy..

Sithie Leilon Dole's, action gave courage to Inudeen Abdul Rahim, who too, took the cue, & sold his rights to the Estate, to a close relation of the person who bought Sithie Leilon Dole's rights.
Inudeen Abdul Rahim, did not even do the sale of his ancestral property properly.
The buyer cheated him by giving cheques, which were subsequently returned by his Bank unpaid.He was not paid the total amount of the Deed.
He had Dis-honored cheques, instead of his ancestral property.
Here too, as in the case of Sithie Leilon Dole, he could NOT give possesion of his rights to the buyer as it was UN-DIVIDED family property..

Inudeen Abdul Rahim sold his rights on the 6th of June 1986, incidently this was the very DAY that his father our founder Abdullah Abdul Rahim, was buried in the Estate, 27 years ago.
This was NO COINCIDENCE.

The two parties, who bought the rights,of Sithie Leilon Dole & Inudeen Abdul Rahim filed two Partition Cases in the Kegalle District Courts, seeking division of Rahina Estate, in 1986.These cases are still pending todate, 2011..
.
FATE & DESTINY, played it's hand in 1982, when Ashad Afzal Dole married his childhood sweetheart, SITHIE FAWZIA AMJADEEN, the youngest daughter, of Sithie Rahina, the eldest daughter of Abdullah Abdul Rahim.
It was a marriage, between first cousins & there was many an objection to this union..

Four days after the wedding, Ashad & Fawzia, left together, to the United Arab Emirates, where Ashad was employed with the Al-Futtaim Group, a very large organization, in the UAE..

Again Fate & Destiny, brought Ashad & Fawzia back to SRILANKA, in the year 1997..
Now with two daughters NILMA SHAZRINA & SHENALI NAZRINA, they took up the challenge to come & live in the Estate with all the odds stacked up against them..

ASHAD DOLE, In October 1998, bought the rights, of THAJUDEEN ABDUL RAHIM, to the property, & in December 1998, the rights of INUDEEN ABDUL RAHIM.
With the rights of SITHIE SUFIYA, he was holding the major share to the property, along with maternal rights his mother SITHIE LEILON..

ASHAD DOLE, with these rights came to occupy the Bungalow, which was kept closed since 1967, that was 30 long years.
It was a big challenge that he had to undertake..

Though the village folk of Welimanne had served the Founder ABDULLAH ABDUL RAHIM, during his time ,30 years is a long time to turn a predominantly Sinhalese village, to love & respect you again, for the simple reason that we had vacated our rights to that love & respect.
With Sri-lanka, in a war on ethnic issues this challenge was an uphill task..

Added to this, the Bungalow was in a very bad condition, which could have been, nothing short of on the verge, of dilapidation.

Undaunted, ASHAD DOLE, leaving his family in Kandy, with his wife FAWZIA, due to the schooling, of their children at the ECOLE INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL, Digana in Kandy, lived alone, with a cook cum appu.
His family visiting him once a month, & he going up to Kandy, once a fortnight..

With the resources he had he started cutting a road of about 1.3 Kms, in the property to the Bungalow, to join the Welimanne village road.
Now one of the major drawbacks, was overcome.
RAHINA ESTATE, had a road now..

With the road it became possible to get the required, electricity pylons to Electrify the Bungalow, & this followed in the year 1999.

In a project jointly done with the Samurdhi Authority, but with, complete Legal aspects looked into, ASHAD DOLE, initiated a water line to provide water to about 25 homes, surrounding RAHINA ESTATE.
This project got the Village folk back into respecting, & depending on RAHINA ESTATE, which was good to get them back, to love & respect us.
Water being an important aspect in life, this project is now in it's 12th year.
These homes did not have access to clean water, & the Northern boundary of RAHINA ESTATE being a perennial stream, we are tapping water from this source for this distribution, of water..

During this time, with RAHINA ESTATE, being turned around, ASHAD DOLE, made a very big effort, to amicably come to a settlement, with SITHIE MARLIYA, the other heir, of the founder ABDULLAH ABDUL RAHIM.Just before her death in the year 2001, she came to a settlement, but unfortunately, she passed away before pen could be put to paper.
After her death, her children led by her youngest daughter, SITHIE CZARINA, dished the settlement, & started a collision course with the major shareholder ASHAD DOLE..

ASHAD DOLE had no option, but take appropriate action to safeguard, his major shareholding, & it is unfortunate, that they have been shut out of their ancestral Home.
Now the issue is to be decided, at the KEGALLE DISTRICT COURTS..

Since, the last update, the Partition Cases have taken a DRAMATIC turn on October 27th 2011.
Having made representation to Court, by the lawyers of ASHAD AFZAL DOLE, at the start of the Trial, to let Ashad Afzal Dole to lead Evidence last, because of the objections put forward by his lawyers, the Court allowed this..

On the 16th of May 2012, the litigants, who surreptiously, purchased, INUDEEN ABDUL RAHIM"S, & SITHIE LEILON DOLE"S right to Rahina Estate, having had their tails between their legs, since ASHAD AFZAL DOLE took over RAHINA ESTATE, did the most foolish act they could ever do.
A gang of about twenty (*20), led by the person who bought INUDEEN ABDUL RAHIM'S right, supported by the son of the person who bought SITHIE LEILON DOLE'S, mounted an attack, on ASHAD AFZAL DOLE, whilst he was in the Estate supervising some road works.
In the ensuing fight ASHAD AFZAL DOLE, sustained injuries, & was rushed to the Aranayake Base Hospital, & the son of the person who bought SITHIE LEILON DOLE'S right was admitted to the Mawanella Hospital.
The next day the person who bought INUDEEN ABDUL RAHIM'S right, & his three sons were arrested by the Aranayake Police, & produced before the Mawanella Magistrate, who remanded them for from the 17th May to the 25th of May 2012.
The case is now pending.
Now ASHAD AFZAL DOLE, has NOT only to defend his rights to RAHINA ESTATE, legally, BUT has to also do it physically, putting even his life on the line.
This is the legacy, left by our elders, where RAHINA ESTATE is concerned.
The blame for all this should fall on THAJUDEEN ABDUL RAHIM & INUDEEN ABDUL RAHIM, the sons of our founder ABDULLAH ABDUL RAHIM.
These two as the sons, brothers, uncles, & males should have acted with decorum, to prevent todays unfortunate situation.
They are dead & gone, MAY THEIR SOULS REST IN PEACE..

The year 2012 has been a very significant year in the history of Rahina Estate.
The year so far has seen, the spectacular wedding & Home Coming of Nilma Dole (edldest daughter of ASHAD & FAWZIA DOLE) & Dominic Williams.
The wedding was held on the 14th of July, at the Victoria Golf & Country Resort, Digana Kandy, & the Home Coming at Rahina Estate, on the 16th of July.
Dominic is a young British Diplomat, who was the Media Spokesman, to the British High Commission, in Srilanka, from May2008-October 2011.
He is now attached to the Foreign & Commonwealth Office in London.
After a whirlwind love affair, of about 3 1/2 years, & together visiting three Continients, they were married, with the blessings,of both families.
Dominic's parents, together with his siblings, cousins, & relatives, graced both occasions..

Their marriage registration took place in Edinburgh, Scotland, in a simple ceremony, which was attended by FAWZIA DOLE, Nima's Mother, representing her family.
The marriage was solemnised, at the St.Anthony's Cathedral, Kandy, just prior to the wedding ceremony, & the Church ceremony was conducted by Father Brendan, the brother of Maggie Williams, the Mother of Dominc..

The Home Coming at Rahina Estate, was historic for many reasons.
After the founder ABDULLA ABDUL RAHIM'S daughters,( two of them being the Mother's of ASHAD AFZAL DOLE & FAWZIA DOLE) were married at Rahina Estate, this the first girl in his family to be married & a function held here..
.
The groom DOMINIC, rode an elephant from, the main road, in the small hamlet of Welimanne, in Aranayake, to the beginning of Rahina Estate, which was about a kilometer ride for him.
The bride NILMA walked in front of the elephant, with both families, accompanied by four Kandyan drummers, & six Kandyan dancers.
DOMINIC on the elephant was dressed in the full regalia of a Kandyan chieftan or "Nilame".
NILMA was dressed in the traditional, Kandyan Saree,the dress of a Kandyan bride with the "MALA HATHA" (seven neclaces)..

The folks of the village turned out in numbers, lining the small village road, to witness the Perahera, which was a first time in the village.
Family, friends, & relatives attended the Home Coming making it a very colourful occasion.
The Bungalow was given a well deserved, renovation after many years, which brought in a lot of interest to the day's proceedings..

NILMA DOLE & DOMINIC WILLIAMS, left to London on the 20th of May, where they will live till DOMINIC, gets his next posting.
RAHINA ESTATE, wishes them a long & Happy wedded life, filled with laughter, love & cheer..
DOMINIC & NILMA were blessed with a baby boy, JOSHA DAVID DOLE WILLIAMS, on the 16th of August 2013.
We welcome JOSHA our first Grandchild, with all the love we can give him.

DOMINIC, NILMA & our little grandson JOSHA, left London, on the 9th January, 2014, to Lima in PERU.
DOMINIC will take post there as The Deputy British Ambassador, & they will be there for the next four years.
