Selangor Dredging Berhad (SDB) was established in 1962 as a tin mining company, and soon became known for having the world’s largest tin dredge.
It was also the first tin mining company owned entirely by Malaysians to have its own tin dredge..

But as the sun set on the industry in the 1980s and early 1990s, SDB shifted its focus into various other businesses, including leasing, diamond prospecting, steel and aluminium manufacturing and trading, among others..
