TASTE wurde 1989 von Helga Wistaedt gegründet.
Als Mutter zweier Töchter, die beide ein High School-Jahr in den USA verbracht hatten, hatte sie das Ziel, eine Organisation ins Leben zu rufen, die eine überschaubare Schüleranzahl vermittelt und betreut, Schüler wie auch Eltern intensiv auf das Auslandsjahr vorbereitet und alle TASTE-Schüler mit Namen kennt und nicht als Nummern behandelt..

Wir sind also eine kommerzielle Organisation (wir zahlen volle Steuern), die sich jedoch von der Qualität nicht von einer gemeinnützigen unterscheidet.
