Detailed description is Tennis club de Sainte Foy L'Argentière Le tennis club de Sainte Foy l’Argentière a été fondé le 27 septembre 1980 et les statuts approuvés par le préfet du Rhône le 17 octobre 1980..
La commune de Sainte Foy l’Argentière met alors à la disposition du club deux cours de tennis et en assure l’entretien.
En 1982, elle installe l’éclairage sur ces courts..

A sa création, le club comptait 233 licenciés dont 124 adultes et 109 jeunes.
Pendant plus d’une dizaine d’années le club va compter en moyenne 150 licenciés.
En 1990, 270 adhérents dont la moitié sont des jeunes..
Pendant toutes ces années, l’école de tennis est très dynamique et les jeunes fournissent de bons résultats en compétitions..
Le club mettra toujours un point d’honneur à prendre des moniteurs diplômés et à former en interne des éducateurs..
Les équipes adultes connaissent également un vif succès et en 1990 l’équipe 1 femme monte en promotion régionale en se maintenant plusieurs saisons de suite.
Depuis, elle se maintient en 1ere série départementale..
Cette année là, la mairie fait construire un troisième terrain permettant à tous les licenciés de jouer plus facilement..

Le club dispose donc à ce jour de 3 cours éclairés et toujours entretenus par la mairie..

Au fil des années, le tennis club connaît une baisse de son effectif.
La possibilité offerte aux jeunes de pratiquer différents sports entraînent en partie la diminution de nombre de licenciés mais il n’en demeure pas moins une forte participation à la compétition et un esprit toujours très convivial.
A ce jour, le club compte environ 75 licenciés.
Equipes jeunes (de 9 à 16 ans), seniors ainsi que vétérans (seniors +) sont engagées en championnat du Rhône..
