Ayrıca Türkiye'nin en büyük tersaneler bölgesi Tuzla'da bulunmaktadır.Tarihçe1400 yılında Yıldırım Bayezid tarafından Osmanlı topraklarına katıldı.
Tuzla'da yaşayan Rumlar, Lozan Anlaşması çerçevesinde Selanik, Kavala ve Drama'dan gelen Türklerle yer değiştirmişlerdir.1980'lerin sonuna kadar balıkçılık ve çiftçiliğin bir arada sürdürüldüğü Tuzla'da sanayinin gelişmesiyle çiftçilik önemini yitirmiştir.
