Detailed description is Val-Maravel est une commune française située dans le département de la Drôme en région Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.Val-Maravel est une des rares communes réunies de France.
Elle se compose des anciennes communes suivantes : Fourcinet ; La Bâtie-Crémezin ; Le Pilhon.GéographieSituée aux confins du Haut-Diois, limitrophe des Hautes-Alpes, Val-Maravel est une commune de moyenne montagne couvrant les sources du Maravel.
Elle culmine au mont Luzet (1692 m), et est séparée des communes de Boulc (au n), Lesches en Diois (à l'ouest), Beaurières (au sud) et La Haute-Beaume (à l'est) par des montagnes dépassant 1300 m.
Le seul accès est celui percé par l'écoulement du Maraval, au sud-ouest : une gorge de quinze mètres entre deux rochers verticaux.
La pierre en rive droite a été percés pour permettre le passage d'une route départementale.On trouve naturellement de nombreuses espèces animales terrestres (cerf, chevreuil, sanglier, blaireau, renard pour les plus grosses) et aériennes (buse, milan, chardonneret, mésange, tarin, rouge-gorge pour les plus faciles à observer).Elle compte trois villages principaux (Fourcinet, environ 840 m d'altitude), la Bâtie-Crémezin (860 m) et le Pilhon (1050 m), en rive droite du Maravel, et deux hameaux secondaires (la Vière et la Vière du Pilhon), en rive gauche ; l'ensemble totalise une cinquantaine d'habitants à l'année.L'essentiel de l'activité concerne l'élevage ovin et bovin ; l'ONF y gère également une large surface de pins noirs.
Les commerces ont disparu (épicerie à Beaurières, 4 km de Fourcinet ; tabac-presse à Luc-en-Diois, 18 km, et supermarché à Die, 38 km), mais la population de la commune connaît une lente croissance depuis le milieu des années 90.
