Rajan Deshpande in the year 1978, the hospital has bloomed over the last 34 years into a most-sought after and well-established pediatric hospitals in the state.
The hospital is named after his father Late Shri Vithal Rao Deshpande.
This first ever exclusive pediatric hospital in Dharwad was inaugurated on 27th December, 1978 by Dr.D.V.Nadkarni, a doyen in the field of medicine.
Subsequently, a special wing in 1982 and a new hospital building with special rooms, PICU and NICU were built in the 1991.
A state-of art outpatient department was opened in 1997..
