Latehar district animal husbandry department is awaiting test reports of three samples of carcasses of birds (broiler chicken) to ascertain if the recent mass mortality at a private poultry farm is due to bird flu or not. Authorities mentioned that more than 150 birds were discovered deceased at the poultry farm owned by Jagdheer Oraon in Bandua village, located within the Manika block of Latehar district. An alert has been sounded in Manika, advising people to avoid buying, selling, and eating birds and eggs for the time being.
