holding in places. it's terrible. after they killed 1300 civilians in music festivals in c can a c. we don't want to hit the hostages themselves. we are fighting in a way that needs to go strong. you need to go light. you need to go with ariel coverage and tanks. you also need to go with special forces that really do it in a very delicate manner on one hand but being very discernment on the other. >> brian: people keep forgetting how this start and why we woo we got here. thanks so much for what you do. best of luck. >> yeah. maybe one more thing just to say, you know, the victory, we are talking about the high tech in israel the victory is not just on the battlefield. the victory high tech industry, the students, the kids continue to create and build some of the best companies in the world not only internationally but also here in the arab world where we cooperate with so many of the moderates. we fight against the extremists but cooperate with the moderates. >> brian: thank you so much. seconds hour of "fox & friends" starts right now. ♪ >> ainsley: a fox news alert. live look at the ruins along the israel gaza border. the idf is pushing deeper into hamas controlled territory. >> steve: meanwhile overnight israeli forces killed the commander who directed portions of the major attacks on october 7th. >> lawrence: meanwhile the idf is hunting down hamas targets inside their 300-mile tunnel network. >> brian: yep. troy yitrey yingst is live on te ground with the latest. trey? >> trey: good morning. i do want to start with breaking news. two separate times this morning there have been suspected drone infiltration into israeli airspace in the southern part of the country. israeli media is reporting these were drones likely fired by houthi rebels in yemen that came toward israel to the red sea. here along the southern border between israel and gaza the fighting continues. i do want to just show you the scene behind me as we talk here. you can see a lot of activity in the ruins of the northern part of gaza. we do understand, according to hamas, the group in control of the strip, that their brigade, the main military wing of hamas has been engaging israeli forces in currently operating in the strip that you see. yesterday we saw israeli tanks going back and forth along the border. we also have some information from the israeli military that we can't reveal yet about the battles that took place overnight. as that information becomes on the record we will bring it to you later in the day. all of this comes as we are learning more about the hostages being held inside gaza. 240 people. that does not include the four that have been released, two american citizens and two israeli citizens. of course that israeli soldier that was rescued just yesterday as part of the ongoing israeli efforts inside the strip. we are talking about private released from captivity. originally taken october 7th from the base that sits along the border with gaza. the israelis say she is in good condition and that she was able to meet with her family just yesterday. this does come as the israelis say they conducted a strike against one specific commander from hamas in the northern part of the gaza strip. we are talking about nassem abu agynia who directed one of the attacks against israeli citizens on october 7th. another member of last hamas taken out by israeli forces as they do tell fox news the efforts are focused around trying to destroy hamas capabilities and the leadership demand inside gaza. guys, back to you. >> brian: hey, trey, did you report earlier that there are high level israeli officials in doha trying to work with these -- to get the hostages out. dolls that have anything to do with the rescue that the idf pulled off? >> >> so we understand there are two separate issues. the israelis tell fox that this was a joint effort to save this private who was captured on october 7th and this effort had to do with the shin bet. israel's intelligence service and also the army on the ground able to conduct this aid and rescue the private that was being held. we actually saw this photo of her with her family yesterday. daughter home after so many weeks of waiting with no information whether she was alive or dead. >> i can tell you are being cagey but not revealing operational details. walls she in a tunnel? go she was in a tunnel she is going to be able to tell the idf i was in this tunnel and i saw this stuff and this is how they operate. >> yeah i'm being very careful with the details and i will tell you why. this morning i met with defense minister and we talked about this specific situation and also the battles that are taking place behind me inside the gaza strip. the majority of our conversation with a small group of journalists is off the record. i'm working to get some of that information on the record so i can bring it to you next hour. very sensitive details that we're talking about. i will effort to get them approved and able to bring them to you later today. >> steve: i understand. >> lawrence: trey, you have covered a lot of wars and within on the ground for at love con glickets is it fair to say the invasion has started? conversation we had today trying to get clarity on whether this is all part of an expanded raid or whether or not the israeli forces are operating inside the gaza strip in an intent to stay there i have information on that but i have to wait to give it to you to get this cleared by israeli censors and make sure we do not give away israeli position. sirens are sounding in that do you la. in northern israel. an indication that the lebanese militant group hezbollah is once again getting involved in this fight and firing on israeli troops in the north it. gives you a sense of just how active the southern and northern front is in this conflict. those iranian proxies not just in gaza but also in southern lebanon engaging in this fight. >> ainsley: all right, trey. thank you so much shoulder he was talking about on the cover of "the new york post." wearing a marvel t-shirt. israeli german citizen. they did confirm she was found dead. she was at that music festival back ever the truck. she was in the back of the truck. and her family says or the idf is saying that she had been abused and they found her severed head. they tested the skull, a piece of the skull and did match it to her d.n.a. but her mother believes that she died that day and that she was shot in the head and she believed that she was -- she took solace in knowing that that she says her daughter didn't suffer. >> brian: how about, this ainsley. those people protesting for hamas. and columbia professors saying people have a right to support hamas on our campus what did she do wrong? she went to coon setter and they cut off her head. what is going on with the logic of some of these people. >> ainsley: babies, their heads were cut off, too. >> steve: i know it. in the meantime, let's talk a little more about hamas. we were lucky enough an hour ago to have the son of one of the founders of hamas on our program. woe were talking about how overnight our time they took out one of these commanders who was responsible for the ariel operation, the drones and also the paragliders, ultimately though, where would they look? well, the answer is under gaza. here he is, listen to the son of the guy who founded hamas. >> under hospital. some 30 meters deep in the sand, which sand is very resilient to bombing. it's not easy to get to him. in order to kill him, probably we will have to destroy the entire hospital. but, he is not going to hide forever. you know, we are coming after him. we are going to eradicate them. there is no escape. there is no escape. it doesn't matter. even if he escapes gaza, we are going after him. >> lawrence: he later makes the point although a lot of these commanders are beneath the hospital in the tunnels, a lot of the organization is not even there. they are not there. so the notion that we can just keep attacking and they won't replace a commander with a new commander is just not going to work. he also said, brian and ainsley. that he doesn't see any way where the u.s. can't get involved with this because these guys are our enemies as well. and we already know they are firing on our bases as well. >> ainsley: i actually, when we were interviewing him in the 6:00 hour and he said that the leader was there underneath the hospital in the tunnel system, at least we know he is there and is he somewhere in that territory. he is not in another country being, you know, safe house in another country. >> brian: political wing is in deha, the military is there. let's bring in karen hamilton former u.s. navy seal. first off cammeron, are you -- how would you characterize their land invasion? they seem to be going 100 yards at a time. they are about two miles in. they are doing it more measured than a lot of armchair generals would have thought. how do you feel about it. >> good morning. thank you for having me. unfortunately, that's a reality of what you have to engage with when it comes to urban conflicted like this. even the u.s. forces as we move through different parts of iraq, you know, what you found different urban and geographical regions is just difficult. some threats, some areas. when you take a building and city block, you then have to keep that terrain. you have to ensure that you don't have other person pop up behind you. ariel denial tools. it's very complicated. especially with a densely packed city. i can say the israelis are being purposeful. just because you have a main line assault though one moving at a specific rate doesn't mean they don't have probing elements that are moving forward behind enemy lines trying to find vulnerabilities, scout, special operations, dogs, you name it. there is a variety of sophisticated tools that they use to ensure as they make this progress they are doing so in a coherent fashion. >> ainsley: cammeron, let's talk about iran. attack on region iraq result of wrong american policies in the region which we hope it will protect. you reap what you sow. what do you make of that threat? >> again, what we're seeing, full scale, on the international stage, is they are testing the resolve of the american people and they are testing, most importantly, the resolve of our american government leadership. what we saw during the trump administration, i will say to his credit. very clear line you would not engage u.s. troops without swift and brutal repercussions. right now we have some of the most amazing service members serving in uniform and serving our military. huge amount of concern whether the leadership of our military and current executive branch has the result to mitigate this threat. i think what we need now, no one wants to see the united states get drawn into a massive conflict in the region. i think that's a terrible scenario in almost every circumstance. however, when our forces are targeted, we need swift and righteous rebuttals to those kind of actions. we need to be very youthful and unwavering in our earth to defend u.s. service members to not put them in greater risk. >> steve: tunnels under gaza have been there for years. that's where they would smuggle goods out of egypt into israel through those tunnels. but, now hamas has been really good at creating what is known as the gaza metro, there are tunnels everywhere. we saw a moment ago the schematics of that hospital. we know the bad guys were under the hospital they know that the israelis are coming for the hospital think they will eventually be down in the basement. how long until they skedaddle? >> moved from that region into other parts. we found efforts and also reports that they have been trying to smuggle hostages out of gaza into egypt and into other regions, even out by sea because they know that that's where all the eyes and focus are. if they can bring them into another area where there isn't as much attention they can be potentially more successful. they still have operations working there. they have spent a lot of their money from infrastructure, building out those tunnels, building out the technology, the phone lines, the -- you know, surveillance systems that go into it, but likely they have all probed and moved three or four steps ahead into different regions and different buildings and locations. i will say one thing that is unfortunate about this conflict is that we are learning just how resolved these hamas militants are. they are very calculated. they don't do things haphazardly. they are very, very much understanding that the more outrage and notch blood shed the longer they drag this conflict on, the more international sympathy and placating to their efforts they will receive. >> steve: great point. >> lawrence: cammeron, you know the idf are trained for this fired thousands and thousands of rounds. can you talk about the trach? i know you train with them. this type of training that those operators are going through underground? ultimately personnel base with different units highly trained and foe sis at this indicated they go through sensory deprecation, advanced reconnaissance training. urban assault training a variety of different factors. one thing unique about israel is their simulation based training. they use training with actual living breathing counterparts with less than lethal rounds but to really replicate some of the environments and scenarios that they would experience. they are also incredibly methodical about capturing video footage analyzing and it putting their armchair quarterback how could things have gone differently and what could we improve on they are very, very resilient how they use their after action reports so to modify tactics and strategies. really remarkable. i will also say they put their individuals through significant degrees of stress and sleep deprivation. your ability to reason and understand challenges becomes more difficult, so they inculcate their soldiers and troops with that kind of training so as to prepare themselves for the ultimate stressors of war. really remarkable. they also synergize really remarkably with other services, which is just, again, astonishing with their canine services and intelligence and even aviation and artillery platforms. >> brian: it would be great if they continue to rescue hostages as they move forward. thanks, cammeron. >> ainsley: thank you for serving our country. >> brian: we should give ourselves credit we go through sleep deprivation training every day and ready to take on. >> ainsley: are you comparing yourself to a navy seal? >> brian: only in sleep deprivation. everybody in the control room same thing camera. >> steve: brian, i have got news for you. carley shimkus gets up two hours before we do. >> brian: she is an elite fighter. >> carley: am i the navy seal of fox news? the shear time with which i set my alarm? >> brian: yes. >> carley: i guess i will take it. guys, i do have news out of iran. not related to the war. natural disasters a 9.2 magnitude earthquake striking the central part of the country this morning. unclear if there are any deaths or injuries this comes just weeks after a series of quakes shook iran. we will keep track of that story for you this morning. this just in, president biden is set to announce new action to protect americans' retirement security. the white house says it's closing loopholes that allow the industry to sell products that boost the revenue of -- at the expense of customers. it's the latest effort by the biden administration to crack down on what they call junk fees. and now to some football action on monday night. the detroit lions beating the las vegas raiders 26-14 at ford field. it's the first time the lions have hosted a monday night football game since 2018. >> comes in at left guard as they hand to gibbs and gibbs breaks it touch down what a night for the rooky. wow. >> gibbs leading the charge with 189 total yards and a touchdown. so if you had them on your fantasy team, then maybe you won last night. those are your headlines, guys. >> brian: so interesting to see the loins good. >> ainsley: did he know the person he was jumping into? was that a relative or a fan? >> carley: i can't confirm that. that is such specific question. >> ainsley: jump in their arms. >> carley: i'm going to assume fan. >> brian: that is the best ainsley question ever. >> ainsley: carley, the team is he on in my house, football on sunday night, i'm not really watching it. i just like the noise. but when you hear like the human interest story someone who is on the field. then the women prefer that women like it. >> lawrence: football game is like white noise. >> ainsley: like watching golf. like at thanksgiving you have to have football on. >> carley: if they show a mom okay, that's so nice. she is probably so proud. >> brian: look who is he celebrating with a bunch of strangers. fantastic. >> carley: i love you so much, ainsley. >> ainsley: glad we wasted all of this time talking about this. >> brian: if you caught a wide receiver yesterday in the stands call us and tell us. >> ainsley: taylor swift we are all watching those games because of taylor. >> lawrence: taylor swift is the gift that keeps on giving. >> steve: america needs it. >> ainsley: you are over it. >> lawrence: i'm so over her. >> brian: rising anti-israel rhetoric. student at yale sounding off after column after hamas' brutality was censored for what the school newspaper called unsubstantiated claims?
