Groups say Habs' draft choice 'trivializes' violence against women

“It’s really disappointing.”
On Friday, the Canadiens drafted 18-year-old Logan Mailloux, who was charged with defamation and offensive photography in Sweden while playing for a team there last year.
He had secretly taken photos of a woman while they were engaged in a sexual act and then shared the photos with his teammates. He was ordered to pay a fine of about CAN$2,100.
“One thing that really troubles me is the way we’re trying to trivialize and sweep this under the carpet with the fact that he was 17 years old at the time of his act, as if it was an error of youth,” Lemay said of the Canadiens’ defence of its draft pick.
