NEW DELHI: For the third consecutive day this week, the daily cases are higher than the corresponding day of the previous week. If the trend continues like this then the weekly total of cases (week ending Sunday) could rise for the first time since the peak of the second wave. The rise is mainly because of a big surge in Kerala, which continued to account for over 50% of India’s new cases for the second straight day. Covid cases in July didn’t follow the trend of drastic fall that happened in May and June. On July 1, the country had seen 46,731 cases and today the case count was 43,240 with Jharkhand numbers yet to come.
